Wanxin | 宛昕 | わんしん

Wanxin is an artist and designer based in Tokyo.
She is active in the halfway point between design and art while focusing on the form of object, texture of material and narratives of perspective with Chinese ink, watercolour, paper sculpture, photography, and video.​​
She was born and spent her childhood in China. After her teens in Japan, she was educated at the University of Manchester, UK with an MA and BA(Hons) in Architecture degrees. In 2017, she left architecture after her career practices in Singapore and Tokyo as an architect designer. ​Her representative work "There is a Cat in the Box" was awarded for the Bologna Children Book Fair 2020. After that, she developed the “ink cat” series work.
Works have been collected by private collectors in Japan, China, and France.

東京のはずれに住む造形作家。墨猫を媒体にし、物の形、感触や視点角度の表現を重視しながら、デザイン、イラスト、アートの中間領域を探りながら活動している。主な手法は、墨、水彩、和紙造形、写真撮影など。

 

中国江蘇省で生まれ、幼少期から日本、中国、イギリス、シンガポールなどの地と転々としながら生活をする。イギリスで建築を学び、シンガポール・東京で携わった後、2017年創作活動に転換。2020年『ねことハコ』がボローニャ国際絵本原画展の入選。それを機に、『墨猫』シリーズの制作を始め、国内外に作品を発表。

在英国求学建筑，在新加坡及东京的建筑设计工作后，2017年投入艺术创作。

2020年以“盒子里的一只猫"入选为意大利博洛尼亚国际童书展后，开始延伸作品“墨猫”系列作品。
