Wanxin | 宛昕 | わんしん

Wanxin is an artist and designer based in Tokyo.

She works with Chinese ink,  mulberry paper sculpture, ceramics, and photography.​​

She was born and lived in China. After her teens in Japan, she was educated at the University of Manchester, UK with MA and BA(Hons) degrees. In 2017, she left architecture after her career practices in Singapore and Tokyo as an architect designer. ​Her representative work "There is a Cat in the Box" was awarded for the Bologna Children Book Fair 2020. 

She is active in between design and art while focusing on form, textural, and narratives of perspective.

東京のはずれに住む造形作家。

主な手法は、墨、和紙造形、陶芸、写真撮影など。

中国江蘇省で生まれ。10代を愛知県で過ごした後、英国マンチェスター大学・大学院にて建築を学ぶ。シンガポール・東京にて建築設計に携わった後、2017年創作活動に転換。2020年『ねことハコ』がボローニャ国際絵本原画展の入選。それを機に、『墨猫』制作を始める。

墨猫を媒体にし、世界の形、感触や視点角度の表現を重視しながら、デザインとアートの境界を横断しながら活動している。

宛昕是一名居住在日本东京西郊的艺术家。

主要手法为，水墨，和纸雕塑，陶瓷，摄影等。

出生于中国江苏，从童年起的20多年间在中国、日本、英国和新加坡等地生活。毕业于英国曼切斯特大学，获得建筑设计学士 和硕士学位。新加坡及东京的建筑设计工作后，2017年投入艺术创作。2020年以“盒子里的一只猫"入选为意大利博洛尼亚国际童书展。从此墨猫系列诞生。

​她的创意存在在设计和艺术之间。墨猫成为媒体，表达她眼里的世界的触感和视角。
